Under a pilot program, waste from dogs at the county’s animal shelter is collected by Denver-based Scoop Services, then composted by There, it’s mixed with sawdust, straw, pine bark and other carbon sources, spiked with enzymes and heated to 145 degrees. Then it’s tested to make sure it is pathogen-free.
