A father and son both face charges stemming from the deadly shooting of a man in northeast Denver, Denver police said Friday.
Daryl Thompson Sr., 42, and Daryl Thompson Jr., 19, are both being held for investigation of first-degree murder in the Wednesday slaying of Charles Edward Harris, 37.
. Officers found Harris lying in the street, suffering multiple gunshot wounds.
Witnesses told police that the elder Thompson, known as “Big Mad Dog,” and Harris got into a fight at a gathering inside the home Wednesday night, and Harris punched Thompson in the face.
When Harris later walked to a liquor store on East 38th Avenue, Thompson and his son, known as “Little Mad Dog,” walked up behind them, a witness told detectives, according to a probable cause statement filed in the case. The witness said it was the younger Thompson who fired the deadly shots from a black handgun, continuing to shoot Harris after he had fallen to the ground.
The elder Thompson also faces charges of witness intimidation, accessory to a crime and tampering with a witness. The witness told police that Thompson said, “Yeah … call 911, you better not … tell anybody,” according to the probable cause statement.
