DENVER—The parolee suspected in the slayings of Colorado’s prisons chief and a pizza deliveryman had filed 26 grievances when he was an inmate, complaining about missing laundry, hearing the same songs over and over on a prison radio, and other issues.
The Denver Post reports ( ) Evan Ebel (EE’-bul) also complained in his handwritten grievances about not getting mail and medications. In December 2006, he complained about the way correctional officers wrestled him to the ground and injured him after he threatened to kill an officer and his family.
The Colorado Independent first reported on the grievances.
Many of Ebel’s grievances were denied.
Ebel died after a shootout with authorities in Texas in March, not long after Colorado Department of Corrections chief Tom Clements and Nathan Leon were killed.
