Colorado Springs firefighters battled a blaze in a hamburger restaurant’s deep fryer Saturday night.
Firefighters spotted flames when they arrived to Drifter’s Hamburgers off Jamboree Drive near the Chapel Hills Mall just after 10:20 p.m. Fire officials said oil in a fryer apparently led to a flash fire after the business had closed for the night.
“Fire out and was contained to the deep fat fryer,” the department Tweeted at 10:40 p.m. “Damage limited to the fryer and smoke throughout (the building).”
The blaze did disrupt traffic in the area as police closed a road near the mall.
