For nearly 100 years, Emily Griffith Technical College has offered technical programming and extensive hands-on training to support the growing needs for a skilled workforce in a wide variety of building trades.

Starting this fall, EGTC will offer a certificate in Computer-Aided Design/Building Information Modeling and 3D Modeling (CAD-BIM.) This training will provide an opportunity for students to learn critical skills and knowledge used in construction-focused disciplines, exploring architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) project principles, drawing basics and 3D modeling skills in a highly technical environment.

After just two years of hand-on training using state-of-the-art equipment, students will be at the forefront of the design industry with their modeling knowledge and will have a wide variety of job industries to consider. The course work is also valuable for experienced architects, landscapers, interior designers, civil engineers and architectural engineering managers who want to upgrade their skills in CAD, BIM and AEC technology.

The Pre-Apprenticeship training introduces students to opportunities and success in multi-craft trades in union and non-union organizations. The training focuses on 21st century skills and hands-on experiences that are universal to most or all apprenticeship programs related to the commercial construction industry.

Students are introduced to drafting, blue print reading, basic applied math, safety practices that include OSHA guidelines, basic first aid practices, introduction of codes for cities or states, operation of hand tools and other equipment.

This program can be completed in six months. It is a unique and valuable opportunity to learn about jobs in the building trades industry and the apprenticeship process for becoming a journey worker in one of several fields.

EGTC offers the least expensive college programming in Colorado with some of the state’s highest job placement rates. Fall registration is open. Visit www.EmilyGriffith.edu to learn more and complete a free application.
