Dorian Butler, a 6-foot-6 forward from John W. North High School in Riverside, Calif., will play for the University of Denver men’s basketball team, DU coach Joe Scott announced Thursday. Butler helped his team to a 31-4 record and a Southern Section Division 2AA championship last season. “Dorian is a skillful, strong forward who we are excited to have joining our team,” Scott said. Butler averaged 15.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals in his senior season. Butler will join Drick Bernstine (Cherokee Trail High School) and Duke Douglas of New Orleans as Scott’s freshman class for 2013-14. Irv Moss, The Denver Post
