Bon Jovi has waived ticket fees for a concert in Madrid in June, in order to let fans purchase cheaper tickets in a country facing a severe financial crisis, as .
, with the number of young jobless people under age 25 at more than 50 percent.
The cost for a ticket would normally be around 76 Euros, which equals close to $99. But, by giving up its own profit, tickets for the Bon Jovi concert went on sale for between 18 Euros, or $23, and 39 euros, or $50. All tickets have now been sold out for the June 27 concert. Tickets for Bon Jovi’s Denver show in April at the Pepsi Center were selling for about $475.
Bon Jovi spoke to about the reasoning behind his band’s decision.
‘When we started planning our tour for our album, “What about now,” we did a study and found that, due to the economic situation, Spain wouldn’t be on the roadmap,” he said. “However, we didn’t want to ditch the fans of a country I love and has treated me so well for 30 years.”
Ticket sales will only go toward the cost for the venue, operating costs, and show staff, according to El Mundo.
