ERIE — Weapons accessory maker Magpul Industries put on sale this week a 30-round ammunition magazine bearing the inscribed logo “Free Colorado” and “Boulder Airlift” as part of an effort to raise money to fight gun-control efforts in the state and beyond.
It sold out of the limited-run magazine, a PMAG that fits AR-15-type rifles, in hours, the Erie-based company said on its Facebook page.
“Well … that was quick,” read Magpul’s message, posted on Monday. “We are currently sold out of both versions of the magazine. We will fit in another run as soon as we can do so without affecting other production.”
The company is in the process of relocating to another state in the wake of legislation passed in March by state legislators and signed into law by Gov. John Hickenlooper that limits the sale of magazines in Colorado to those with 15 rounds or fewer. The ban goes into effect July 1.
