COLORADO AT CINCINNATI
Rockies’ Tyler Chatwood (3-0, 2.12 ERA) vs. Reds’ Bronson Arroyo (5-5, 3.75), 5:10 p.m. Monday, ROOT; 850 AM
Powerhouse right-hander Tyler Chatwood has solidified his spot in the Rockies’ rotation with four impressive starts in a row. Toss out his first start of the season — a rough five-run, nine-hit outing against the Braves upon his call-up from Triple-A — and Chatwood has been nails. He has allowed only three runs over his last four starts, for a 1.14 ERA. The key has been Chatwood’s ability to throw first-pitch strikes with his fastball and keep hitters guessing when he might unleash his nasty curve. Chatwood has never pitched against the Reds’ powerful lineup, and it will be interesting to see how he handles hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park. Reds right-hander Bronson Arroyo had better be careful with Carlos Gonzalez (7-for-14, two doubles), Todd Helton (8-for-22, two homers) and Troy Tulowitzki (5-for-9, two homers).
