ANNAPOLIS, MD. — Rookie Eric Law led all players with five goals and the Denver Outlaws downed the Chesapeake Bayhawks 12-9 on Saturday at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
It was a measure of revenge for the Outlaws, who last lost to the Bayhawks in the 2012 Steinfeld Cup championship game.
The Outlaws (7-0) have won 13 consecutive regular-season games and have a two-game lead atop the MLL standings.
Law, a former standout for the University of Denver, was 5-of-5 on shots against the Bayhawks after finishing 4-of-4 in his MLL debut last week.
Outlaws goalie Jesse Schwartzman turned in a strong performance against one of the league’s top-scoring offenses. Schwartzman saved 17-of-26 shots (.654 percentage).
Schwartzman made seven saves in the second quarter to limit the Bayhawks to one point as the Outlaws took a 6-3 lead into intermission.
The last time Denver lost in the regular season was nearly a year ago — a 14-8 loss at Long Island on June 23, 2012.
Denver returns home next Saturday to face the Ohio Machine.
