MADRID—The head of Spain’s anti-doping agency says the judiciary is investigating a support network that allegedly helped Lance Armstrong with doping while he trained in the country from 1999 to 2005.

Ana Munoz leads Spain’s Sports Health Protection Agency. She says that in May 2012 she received a request for help from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency. At the time, the U.S. group was trying to learn if Armstrong and his entourage had been involved in doping.

Munoz said Tuesday that testimony and other evidence were gathered as part of an investigation that she presented to Spain’s state prosecutor. The evidence is being used by a court to investigate Armstrong and those who may have helped him to win seven Tour de France titles.
