comedy: Text-a-Saurus stalks the Bug Theatre

saturday. Texting on your cellphone during a live comedy show is close to a cardinal sin, but Denver stand-up and Comedy Works new talent coordinator Deacon Gray has inverted that ungodly behavior with his Text-a-Saurus show. The monthly showcase is a hybrid of stand-up and improv featuring a rotating cast of local and national comedians — this month with Christie Buchele, Troy Walker and Portland, Ore.’s Ian Karmel. The first act finds Gray and the comics performing regular sets, while the second asks audience members to text topics to a number on the screen. The third “speed round” finds them tearing through the amusing leftovers. Think “hipster royalty,” “penguin violence” and, ahem, “Narnia porn.” 10:30 p.m. Saturday at the Bug Theatre, 3654 Navajo St. $10. 303-477-9984 or . John Wenzel
