Mara Abbott of Boulder cemented her lead at the Giro Rosa by winning her second straight mountain stage Friday.
Abbott, the 2010 Rosa winner, finished the 75-mile Stage 6 from Terme di Premia to San Domenico, Italy, 24 seconds ahead of Claudia Hausler of Germany, increasing her overall lead to 2:40 over Tatiana Guderzo of Italy with two stages remaining.
Abbott’s position was made more secure with the disqualification of five-time Rosa winner Fabiana Luperini of Italy, who finished fourth in the stage and had been second overall.
Her bike was more than 100 grams under the 6.8-kilogram minimum in the postrace inspection.
