People hiking in a remote area on Lookout Mountain discovered human remains late Sunday afternoon, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department said.
Spokeswoman Jacki Kelley said there were few immediate details, though it initially appears the body has been there for some time. She said it was nowhere near any address or road to help describe the location.
Authorities were called about 4:40 p.m., she said. Sheriff’s investigators and the coroner’s office examined the body and the location.
