DENVER—The Denver City Council is considering asking voters to approve an additional tax on recreational marijuana to cover the costs of regulation.

That would be in addition to a ballot measure in November asking Colorado voters to approve a 15 percent excise tax plus a 10 percent statewide sales tax on all retail marijuana purchases.

The Denver Post reports () marijuana advocates are worried that excessive taxes could destroy the whole idea around voter-approved recreational marijuana use.
