is most definitely trying to bring attention to a human rights issue in a new video where he is force-fed under what is reportedly standard Guantánamo Bay procedures.
The video begins with text narration that reads, “There are currently 120 detainees on hunger strike in Guantanamo Bay. 44 of them ar being fed against their will. Yasiin Bey, better known as Mos Def, volunteered to undergo the procedure used on the detainees.”
The video, , was directed by Asif Kapadia in collaboration with the human rights organization .
The somewhat graphic performance art piece shows Mos Def tied down in a chair while tubes are inserted into his nose. The group of Guantánamo Bay detainees earlier this year to protest their detention.
