DENVER—A suburban Denver woman who was arrested this week in connection with her roommate’s death had been sued in 2003 by a woman who was later found dead.

Fifty-four-year-old Melissa Miller is accused in the death of Wheat Ridge resident Leann “Annie” Meyer, who disappeared in February. Meyer’s remains were found July 4 in Park County.

Miller’s mother has said Miller wasn’t involved in Meyer’s disappearance.

KMGH-TV in Denver reports () that in 2003, a woman’s lawsuit alleged Miller stole more than $32,000 from her. The woman’s shooting death later that year was ruled a suicide, and the lawsuit was dropped. KMGH reports no criminal charges were filed, but police are now trying to determine whether Miller forged checks and stole money.
