Weld County’s commissioners will give the public four opportunities to provide feedback on the recent idea of creating a 51st state out of northeastern Colorado.
The Weld County commissioners have met with 10 eastern Colorado counties to discuss on July 8.
At that meeting, Phillips County officials floated a new idea, to change the makeup of the state legislature instead.
Both ideas are meant to give rural Colorado residents a voice at the state level, something that officials said has been lacking.
Both proposals will be discussed at the public meetings.
All meetings will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m on the following days and locations:
• Thursday, Multipurpose Room at Fort Lupton Recreation Center, 350 Harrison Ave., Fort Lupton
• July 29, Large meeting room at Southwest Weld Complex, 4209 Weld County Road 24½, Longmont
• July 30, Cottonwood room at Evans Recreation Center, 1100 37th St., Evans
• July 31, Ault Fire Department, 16680 Colorado 14, Ault
