Late Monday, shared his new, seven-plus minute track, “Control,” which features and . The new Big Sean song premiered on Funkmaster Flex’s Hot 97 radio show and is slated to appear on Sean’s “Hall of Fame” project, which is due out Aug. 27.
Kendrick Lamar steals the show on this No ID-produced track. He’s sandwiched between Sean and Jay Electronica, and using grit to inflect the topography of his tone, Kendrick calls out everyone, including Drake and even Sean himself.
Jay Electronica is enigmatic with his rhymes, alluding to his debut album (which the masses have been waiting years on) and name drops spiritual deities rather than his fellow rappers (minus Jay-Z). Big Sean, the star of the song by default, holds his own with his monotonous flow and simple verses that are more rhythm than substance. Though the lineup of this song comes from all over the place (Lamar from L.A., Electronica from the U.K.), thanks to Sean, Detroit gets the bulk of the shout outs.
