DENVER—Investigators say Jefferson County SWAT members were justified when they shot at an armed man during a three-hour standoff at a Morrison home.

The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office says officers “displayed remarkable restraint” during the July 5 standoff with 45-year-old Ralph Kirksten Barnhardt, who is accused of firing at them through a glass window. The Denver Post reports ( ) Barnhardt was wounded during the standoff, which started after a domestic violence complaint.

He was armed with two handguns.
