
Pedestrian hit by car. A man was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries Aug. 24 after being struck by a car. The incident occurred at about 10 p.m. near East Sixth Avenue and Potomac Street. Police say the pedestrian was likely at fault. Numerous witnesses said the car had the green light and the pedestrian had a don’t walk signal.
Head-on collision. A man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Aug. 25 after being involved in a car wreck. The head-on collision occurred at about 3:30 p.m. near East Iliff Avenue and South Peoria Street. Police say the driver of a Jeep veered across the center line on Iliff Avenue when he struck a Honda SUV headed in the opposite direction. Two passengers in the Honda were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but are expected to survive.
Murder suspect arrested. A 23-year-old Aurora man is facing first-degree murder charges in connection with an Aug. 21 shooting. The shooting happened at about 12:30 a.m. on the 1400 block of Moline Street. Officers arrived in the area, but were unable to locate anyone or any evidence of a shooting. About 30 minutes later, just after 1 a.m., officers were dispatched to a nearby hospital where two individuals had transported a third party who was suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim died a short time after he arrived.
Police looking for thieves. Officers were dispatched at 12:20 p.m. to Circle K, 600 S. Buckley Road, on a report of shoplifting. According to a report, two suspects were seen stealing about $132 worth of items from the store.
