AURORA — A construction worker was injured Wednesday morning when two concrete panels toppled onto a vehicle he was driving on the side of Interstate 225 in Aurora, a fire official said.
The Aurora Fire Department official said the man was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident happened about 10 a.m. on a RTD light rail construction project along I-225 near Yale Avenue.
The fire official said a series of decorative preformed concrete panels lining the side of the highway had settled over time in the dirt. The panels, which are about 20-foot square, are held in place by concrete brackets at the top and bottom. But as the panels settled, they slipped free from the top bracket holding them upright.
