COLORADO SPRINGS — A Cessna aircraft carrying two people crashed Wednesday morning shortly after taking off from the Colorado Springs Airport, losing power and force landing in a nearby field.
John McGinley, assistant director of operations and maintenance with the airport, said both passengers have minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital for precautionary measures.
The west gate of Peterson Air Force Base was temporarily shut down to accommodate emergency responders, as the Colorado Springs Fire Department, AMR, Peterson Air Force Base fire and Colorado Springs police dispatched to the scene.
