
1 Speedy thief. Police pulled over a speeding car near the 12800 block of northbound Interstate 25 Aug. 25. The officer discovered that the license plates on the car were stolen and asked owner of the car where they came from. She said her friend gave them to her because she didn’t have the money to register the car. She was taken into custody.
2 No ride home. Police were called to the Sonic at 9500 Federal Blvd., Federal Heights, after an employee noticed that his bike was stolen Aug. 22. The employee left his red-and-black Schwin mountain bike unlocked, near the front door of the restaurant to keep an eye on it. There are no suspects.
3 Hot dog at Water World. Security at Water World, 8801 Pecos St., Federal Heights, called police Aug. 17 when a husky was spotted locked in a hot truck bed. The temperature inside was 101 degrees. The officer opened the back of the truck and released the dog. Security paged the owner to the parking lot, and police cited him for animal cruelty.
4 Stolen camera. A man called police to his home in the 2600 block of West 90th Place, Federal heights, to report that his Nikon camera was stolen from his unlocked truck Aug. 16. Police viewed the victim’s home security footage and saw an unidentified man steal the camera. There are no suspects.
5 Party foul. A patrolling Thornton police officer stopped a person who was driving erratically through a parking lot at 10140 Grant St. on July 31. The driver told the officer that he just left a party after drinking about seven beers. He was arrested after failing a roadside sobriety test.
