
A smash-and-grab burglar wielding a sledgehammer made off with jewelry worth several thousands of dollars from a K-Mart store.
The incident happened about 7:25 p.m. Tuesday at 5885 Palmer Park Blvd. in El Paso County, according to a sheriff’s office media release.
The burglar, wearing a white hoodie, blue jeans, dark-brimmed baseball cap and an orange bandana over his face, smashed a display case and grabbed the jewelry.
No one was injured.
A late-1990s white Chevrolet or GMC SUV, possibly a 4-door S-10 style Trailblazer or Jimmy, may have been used in the crime.
