A Denver had a lengthy arrest record in Colorado.
The decedent, Mark Andrew Reed, 58, was identified Friday by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.
Reed was shot Saturday morning at a U.S. Bank branch on East Colfax Avenue. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Police Chief Robert White has said the suspect pointed what appeared to be a gun at the officer after robbing the bank.
Reed has an arrest record dating to 1974, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and he was sentenced to prison in 1980 on a forgery conviction.
Other arrests in the state included carrying a concealed weapon, vehicle theft, and domestic violence, according to CBI records.
