A 25-year-old hang-glider pilot from Kansas escaped serious injuries Sunday when he was blown from Saguache County into Fremont County.

The Saguache County Sheriff’s Department identified him Monday morning as Kevin Suellentrop from Colwich, Kan.

His hang gilder was found on the northeast side of of the mountain in the Sangre de Christo Range just before 1 p.m. Searchers on the ground and in the air were dispatched after a witness called 911 and reported seeing the hang glider in the air but thought there was no pilot, according to a statement Monday from Saguache County Sheriff Mike Norris.

Fremont County Search and Rescue, however, found Suellentrop and walked him down the mountain to Hayden Pass, where he was taken to a hospital in Salida for minor injuries, the sheriff stated.
