Saturday. Tiny Crestone, just north of the Great Sand Dunes National Park, has its own ideas about celebrating harvest season — and those ideas involve yaks. The Cho Ku Rei farm and ranch will host its first Yaktoberfest, a family-friendly event inspired by the farm’s sustainable approach to agriculture and business. The festival, which takes place at Challenger Golf Club four miles west of Crestone, features beer from New Belgium Brewing, food (including yak dishes), live music and tribal belly dancing, arts and crafts vendors and kiddie fare such as face painting, games, a tractor-pulled hay ride and a yak petting zoo.
