The sinister rock of Murder by Death will fill the haunted Stanley Hotel Concert Hall in Estes Park for two nights in January, announced Tuesday morning.
The band will play the legendary hotel on Jan. 17-18 in celebration of the 10th anniversary of “Who Will Survive and What Will Be Left of Them.” The band’s dark sounds will fit nicely with the hotel’s history, which famously inspired the Stephen King novel “The Shining” and was the elaborate set for the mini-series based on the book (though not Stanley Kubrick’s masterwork starring Jack Nicholson).
Tickets, $50, are on sale now via axs.com; Fees are included, as is a numbered screen-printed poster. Best of all is the intimate room: Only 300 tickets will be sold each night.
Just imagine hearing “Until Morale Improves, the Beatings Will Continue” in a haunted hotel before walking back to the Stanley’s gorgeous whiskey bar for a nightcap and then moseying on up to your room, which has a television channel dedicated to Kubrick’s “The Shining” on repeat 24 hours a day … it could get real.
