ALBANY, Ga.—Albany State University President Everette J. Freeman will be stepping down to become the next president of the Community College of Denver.
Officials with the University System of Georgia said Wednesday that Freeman will step down at the end of the month. He has served as president since 2005.
University System of Georgia Chancellor Hank Huckaby says Albany State’s financial performance improved significantly under Freeman’s tenure, and made important contributions to the state’s system.
An interim president is expected to be named at a later date. Albany State currently enrolls more than 4,000 students and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees.
