COLORDO SPRINGS, Colo.—An escaped prisoner is back in custody following a high-speed car chase that started in Limon and ended 65 miles west in Colorado Springs.
Police say 28-year-old Ira Smith was already wanted on a warrant for escape from the Department of Corrections when he was stopped on Thursday and tried to flee.
Police say the chase ended after police were able to force him off the road after he hit a car.
Smith is facing new traffic and narcotics charges.
