BROOMFIELD — Mountain View Elementary School students take their fundraising seriously. They raised more than $11,000 selling butter braids — more than 2,000 of them. As a reward, principal Lynn Saltzgaver, assistant principal Shelley Stetler and teachers from the top-selling classes puckered up with a pig on Friday. The “Smooch a Swine” event was a big hit with students, who cheered and egged on the reluctant teachers and principals as they planted kisses on Freightliner, a 1,000-pound boar, although photos seem to indicate Saltzgaver kissed her hand, planted on Freightliner’s snout, rather than the beast himself.
The money raised will be used to support teachers, classrooms and technology.
