A woman was shot in the leg at a house party in Fountain early Sunday and taken to a hospital, according to the Fountain Police Department.
Shots were fired in the 7200 block of Loveland Avenue at about 1:11 a.m., according to a news release.
Officers who responded “learned several persons attending a party in the area had engaged in a fight where several gunshots had been fired,” according to the release.
Occupants of the house refused to open the door when officers tried to contact the owner.
Police obtained a search warrant for the home, and the police department’s emergency services unit was brought in to serve the warrant.
“Prior to executing the warrant, it was learned that approximately 10 individuals were hiding in the house, including the homeowner,” according to the release.
“The individuals were informed of the warrant and were called out of the house. The occupants of the house came out, and no one was hurt during the execution of the search warrant.”
Police interviewed all of the house’s occupants and released them pending further investigation.
In spite of repeated warnings not to try to re-enter the home, the homeowner, Darryl James, 24, attempted to get into the house and was arrested on charges including obstructing a police officer.
The investigation into the shooting is continuing, and anyone with information on the incident can call the Fountain Police Department at 719-382-8555.
