The female pilot whose plane crashed in Castle Rock Monday night remains in serious, but stable condition.

The unidentified before crashing in a gulch in the Sapphire Pointe area, according to a news release from Karen McGrath, spokeswoman for the Town of Castle Rock.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.

The plane went down around 7 p.m. Neighbors described seeing a bright flash of blue light, then hearing a loud boom moments later.

The woman’s body was found by a resident near the wreckage. It is unclear if she crawled out or was ejected.
