A little home decorating. Lakewood police were called to Target, 460 S. Vance St., on Oct. 20 after employees stopped a theft in progress. A woman had hidden multiple items, including a hammer, cleaning supplies and wall decals, in a bag. She said she was shoplifting to “furnish” her apartment. The value of the items was $145.

Sleeper hold. Police responded to the 7200 block of West Kentucky Drive on Oct. 20 for domestic violence. When police knocked on the door, a female screamed for help. The woman told police she and her husband had gotten into a fight about a phone. He threw her down and put her in a “sleeper hold.” She blacked out. He was arrested.

Growing his “collection.” On Oct. 18, police on patrol observed a suspicious man with a pair of yellow bolt cutters near an electrical pole on the 1100 block of Upham Street. The man admitted he was trying to steal copper wire to add to his “scrap collection,” which he sells for money. He was jailed.

Blame the breeze. A man was cited Oct. 17 after a plainclothes officer saw him smoking a marijuana joint at the Federal Center light-rail station, 11601 W. Second Place. When asked why he was smoking in public, near young children, the man said he thought “the breeze would take care of it.”

Sad ending. A woman was arrested on prostitution charges Oct. 16 following an undercover investigation of Comfortable Chinese Massage, 5707 W. Sixth Ave. An undercover officer paid the female attendant $45 for a one-hour massage. During the massage, she also agreed to masturbate the officer for an extra $40.
