With a swarm of cat puns, has finally confirmed that the art-rock band is working on its fifth studio album.

While no other details about the album have been released, this record will be the first since the tragic death of bassists Gerard Smith. It is the follow-up to the unimpressive 2011 album, “Nine Types of Lights.” This fifth album also marks also be TV On The Radio’s first since splitting with Interscope.

The band confirmed the upcoming album :

“Time to let the cat out of the bag: We’re working on a new record. Right this very moment. Meow, ya’ll.”

It should be pointed out that this announcement also included a picture of a computer with a cat on it. Yep, more cats.

The announcement doesn’t come as a complete surprise, as TVOTR has hinted at a new album in interviews, and released two high-concept tracks “Mercy” and “Million Miles.”

Will this be TV On the Radio’s long-overdue Return to Cookie Mountain?
