
Denver-based the largest provider of air medical-transport services in the United States, said Monday it has signed a deal to acquire , a tour operator based in Hawaii.
Blue Hawaiian is one of the world’s largest aerial tour operators and is the premier helicopter-tour company in Hawaii, offering 12 scheduled tours on five of Hawaii’s six tourist islands.
Blue Hawaiian operates a fleet of 24 helicopters and generated consolidated revenue of about $47 million in 2012.
The announcement comes less than a year after Air Methods announced it had completed its acquisition of Sundance Helicopters Inc., a tour operator in Las Vegas.

Aaron Todd, Air Methods’ chief executive, said the acquisition of Blue Hawaiian, “when combined with Sundance Helicopters, will position Air Methods Tours as the leading aerial tour provider in two of the most coveted tourism venues in the United States: the Las Vegas/Grand Canyon region and Hawaii.”
The transaction involving Blue Hawaiian is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2013.
