Denver police are looking for a 16-year-old assault suspect whose older brother interfered with his arrest Tuesday morning, allowing him to run away from police after he had already been handcuffed.
Officers were trying to capture the boy, who was wanted for felony menacing and assault, at a home in the 1000 block of S. Patton Court on the city’s southwest side when he escaped out a window, Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson said.
Officers already had him in handcuffs outside when his older brother somehow interfered, allowing him to break free. Jackson didn’t know whether the older brother assaulted arresting officers but said he was in custody.
The 16-year-old took off toward the 1400 block of Osceola Street wearing a black shirt, tan pants and handcuffs, police said. Officers have set up a perimeter in the area.
