LONGMONT, Colo.—A man accused of setting fire to his trailer home in Longmont while police were looking for him inside could face attempted murder charges.

The Times-Call reports ( ) that 38-year-old Thomas Hibdon will appear in court Friday in Boulder County to hear what charges he’ll face.

Police arrested Hibdon Tuesday. Authorities say officers went to his home on a warrant and got permission from his landlord to enter.

Authorities say Hibdon threw a knife at officers and then went into a bedroom. The officers left the trailer when they saw smoke. Two birds in the trailer died in the fire.

Police say Hibdon climbed onto the roof, but officers eventually arrested him on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder of a peace officer, first-degree arson, animal cruelty, and other charges.
