TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Colorado women’s soccer team saw its dream season come to end Saturday, falling to No. 3 Florida State 4-0 in the round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament.

The Seminoles (21-1-3) struck early and often, scoring three goals in the game’s first 15 minutes.

Florida State limited Colorado to a season-low four shots while firing off 24 of its own, marking just the fourth time this season the Buffaloes (14-7-2) allowed an opponent more than 20 shots.

The lopsided loss was a disappointing end to a surprising postseason surge in which the Buffaloes upset No. 15 Denver in the first round of the tournament before downing No. 19 BYU in the second round.

It was just the second time in program history Colorado advanced to the Sweet 16, joining the 2006 team.

“This whole season has been a dream for me,” said senior Anne Stuller, who set single-season CU records with 93 shots and 53 on goal. “We knew we were coming in today with a big challenge ahead of us, and Florida State showed us what a good team they were. But I’m not going to hang my head. I have so much to be proud of and how proud I am of my team.”
