Fort Collins police said speed was a factor when a 22-year-old male lost control of his motorcycle Saturday evening and was thrown from the bike.

Zachary Lundgren Borges was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies with “serious injuries,” according to police.

Police said Borges was on a 2009 Kawasaki ZX14 and turned west on East Harmony Road from South Timberline Road. The driver accelerated, changed lanes abruptly, passed a vehicle at a “high rate of speed, changed lanes again and lost control,” according to news release.

The 1800 block of Harmony Road was closed for four hours while police investigated the scene. They said alcohol was not a factor.

Anyone with information about the collision who has not already given a statement to police is asked to call Officer Jeff Laguna at 970-221-6555.
