Despite some Tim Cook, Apple is still red hot, and not just in mobile technology. Research firm Parks Associates released a report last week that showed Apple is the most popular brand for desktop computing this holiday season. “Apple topped the list of intended brands for desktop purchases for the first time this year,” Parks Associates consumer-analytics director John Barrett said in a statement. “In 2011 and 2012, Dell was the top desktop brand, but Apple has displaced it, making Apple now the most popular brand across even more key (consumer electronics) categories.” Dell ranks second among desktop shoppers this year. Apple also tops the list for tablet shoppers, followed by Amazon and Samsung, respectively. — Andy Vuong, The Denver Post
