ERIE, Colo.—The Erie Board of Trustees has censured two members of the board for failing to disclose their role in helping a resident prepare an ethics complaint against Mayor Joe Wilson earlier this year.

Trustees Mark Gruber and Janice Moore say the censure was political. The censure has no legal impact.

The Boulder Daily Camera reports ( ) the trustees on Tuesday accused Gruber and Moore of conducting a political vendetta by meeting with Erie resident Elisabeth Fisher, who filed an ethics complaint against the mayor over his involvement in land deals and not informing the board.

The mayor was cleared of any ethics violations after a six-month investigation.
