The moody, young MC will perform at Denver’s Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom on Jan. 13 and and at the Aggie Theater in Fort Collins on Jan. 12. Earl Sweatshirt most recently played Red Rocks with Juicy J, Kid Cudi and Tyler the Creator in September before headlining his own show in Boulder shortly after.
The MC is best known for his complex and intricate verses paired by a monotonous voice that is more pleasing to the ear than not. For a while, Earl was shrouded in mystery, having been whisked away from the limelight by his family. Once he emerged from rehab (or reform school in the islands, depending on who you ask), he rose to even greater fame. His critically acclaimed album “Doris” was lauded as one of the best hip-hop releases of 2013 and is still in heavy rotation.

It was a professional build and as Earl kicked into “Molasses,” the 19-year-old already had the crowd under his control, chanting his freckled hook on command.
