Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio is not looking to parlay the Spartan’s Rose Bowl trip into a new job.

He says he’s where he wants to be.

“I see Michigan State as the destination, not a stop,” when asked about being a potential candidate for other jobs, most notably Texas. “It’s flattering, but that’s the way I see it.”

Dantonio was one of several coaches deflecting questions about or denying interest in the Texas head coaching job this week.

UCLA’s Jim Mora, Louisville’s Charlie Strong, LSU’s Les Miles, Vanderbilt’s James Franklin, Stanford’s David Shaw, Philadelphia’s Eagles coach Chip Kelly and even Auburn’s Gus Malzahn were asked about the Longhorns’ vacancy.

The most surprising name might be Malzahn, given he’s in just his first year at Auburn and has the Tigers playing for a national championship.

“I’m a good fit for the Auburn Tigers,” . “That’s why I signed the contract the day before the SEC Championship. I said it before, I’m tickled to death to be here.”

CoachingSearch.com as they brushed aside the idea of running what’s deemed to be one of the top three football programs in the country.

Other names mentioned in association with the Texas job have been NFL coaches Jim Harbaugh and Mike Tomlin, Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin and Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy.
