3) OneRepublic at the Ogden Theatre — Dec. 20, $75-$175

For this year’s Denver Acoustic Christmas, local boys OneRepublic have made the third annual concert a benefit for Colorado’s devastating floods. This year the band released its international hit new album “Native” and is gearing up for a big 2014 that includes a headlining show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. In just the last week, OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder once again showed his behind the scenes chops as a producer of Beyonce’s new single “XO.” This intimate show on Dec. 20 includes opening act Gungor.

2) Public Enemy at Summit Music Hall — Dec. 21, $32.50-$35

A year after becoming the fourth hip-hop act inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the iconic Public Enemy will return to Colorado for a headlining show at the Summit Music Hall on Dec. 21. With 12 studio albums — the most recent released in 2012 — the group is an anomaly in the hip-hop world, having been active for more than three decades. Is Public Enemy as socially potent as it was in late ’80s and early ’90s? Not quite, but as the hall-of-fame honor will attest, Public Enemy is an icon of modern music and a forerunner of the hip-hop genre.

1) Princess Music at the Bluebird Theatre — Dec. 20, $10-$12

Itap the night of some of Denver’s best breakout bands at the Bluebird Theater on Dec. 20 — in fact half the lineup showed up on Reverb’s list of 10 Colorado bands to know. A showcase for Denver label Hot Congress Records, the Bluebird show features Princess Music, the Blue Rider, Science Partner and Shady Elders. The nightap headliner, Princess Music, released its debut album, “Odobenidae,” this year and has gotten noticed thanks to the band’s unique mix of indie-folk and chamber music. Blue Rider is quickly becoming a known face around Colorado, staying busy with opening slots this year. Shady Elders had a big moment last month opening for Mazzy Star at the Ogden Theatre.
