In what sounds like a definite tip-of-the-hat to , rocked out with a bunch of scientists in a climate sensitive dome earlier this month.

On Dec. 8, the band performed at the Carlini Argentine Base in Antarctica, making them the first band to play all seven continents. Another first for the band: the concert was broadcast only through headphones, no amplification. Probably to keep penguin adolescents from jump-starting their rebellious phase.

The only other concert known to have been performed on the isolated ice continent took place during Live Earth 2007, when a group of scientists rocked a 17-person show under the handle Nunatak.

The historic performance has been released as a live album, called “Freeze ‘Em All: Live in Antarctica.” You can buy it on the band’s website .
