Tax problems. A man called police to his mother’s home in the 11300 block of Ironton Street after she received a letter from the Internal Revenue Service stating that she owed more money on her taxes. The woman’s income and marital status were wrong on the forms, so her son asked police to file an identify theft report Dec. 9.

Desperate for diet pills. A woman was caught by loss prevention employees at the King Soopers at 1575 W. 84th when she tried to leave the store without paying for two boxes of weight-loss supplements hidden in her purse. She was given a summons Dec. 8.

Too many identities. A resident of the 9200 block of Elm Court reported to police Dec. 6 that someone else was using his Social Security number. The man told officers that this constantly happens to him. There are no suspects.

Window mischief. Police were called to the 9000 block of Clay Street because a woman said someone smashed out three of her car’s windows. Officers noted nothing was missing from the car Dec. 6, and there are no suspects.

Grab and flee. A man stole two boxes of Vicks medicine Dec. 5 from the King Soopers at 1575 W. 84th Ave. and ran from store employees, who tried to stop him. Officer pursued the suspect but were unable to find him.

Thwarted by the sun. Police responded to the Walmart at 5990 Dahlia St. after a woman’s purse was stolen from her cart Dec. 5. The loss prevention employee reviewed security footage and found that the sun was too bright where the theft took place, and no suspects could be identified.
