Though its been two years since the band released its sophomore album “Endless Now” on Sub Pop, London’s Male Bonding is still on the road touting its indie-punk sound. Striking the balance between clean and grungy, Male Bonding is England’s modern take on ’90s alternative rock. Unafraid to solo like — and even collaborate — with Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, the band has been influenced by a number of the same musicians as their American counterpart Surfer Blood. Male Bonding performs at the Larimer Lounge on Jan. 7 with Tom Waits for No Man and Wandering. ($10, )

Signed to Saddle Creek Records, Maria Taylor exemplifies the label’s specific sound of country-influenced folk music. Like modern Bright Eyes — whom Taylor has performed with — the artist’s music travels from indie to indie-rock with a classic natural twang. Taylor released her sixth solo album in 2013, which ups the production value from her previous work, even incorporating a chorus of backing vocalists on tracks like “Tunnel Vision.” Along with Blake Brown and PJ Bond, Taylor plays at the Larimer Lounge on Jan. 5. ($12-$14, )
