FORT COLLINS, Colo.—A Larimer County commissioner is trying to find out why a county judge has been absent from work for six months with no explanation.

Judge Robert Rand went on paid administrative leave at the start of July. Neither he nor his bosses at the Colorado Supreme Court will explain why.

According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan ( ), County Commissioner Steve Johnson wants the county’s legislative delegation to investigate. Under state law, lawmakers and the state Supreme Court have authority over judges.

Rand did not return a phone call on Monday seeking comment.
